The Routes

The Santa Dash is a route of around 3 km and follows part of the 5 mile route.

Other than the Santa Dash there are 2 options available, 5 miles and 10 miles – all taking in the spectacular countryside

5 Miles

Starting at the Park Gate Inn, the route takes you across the beautiful Dodford countryside, into the valley before entering the spectacular scenery of Nutnells Woods. Looping around the route heads over some quiet Dodford lanes and back into the valley up into the fields, down Fockbury Mill Lane and back to the Park Gate pub for a well deserved drink!

10 Miles

Again starting at the Park Gate Inn, this route tracks the 5 mile course for around 4 miles but then turns left out of Nutnells Woods into more breathtaking scenery in the Chaddesley Woods nature reserve. The route is trickily undulating until turning back and heading towards Dordale. Next up is another beautiful wooded location, this time in Pepper Woods where a gentle incline will test tired legs before a fast sprint back down into Dordale will get you back to the Inn for the party

The Party

The run starts and ends at the fantastic Park Gate Inn serving real and independent local ales.

Breakfast will be available from 8:30 am, served by the Hangry Moose for the early arrivers.

Relax in post run glory with your running buddies looking over stunning views across the beautiful countryside where there will be music, real ales, mulled wine and delicious food served by the Hangry Moose.

The Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enter the event?

You can enter online via entry central, the link is on this website.

When will online entry close?

On 24th November, or when all the places are filled.

Do I have to pay?

This run is not-for-profit and is financially supported by 2 fantastic local companies, Bumble Hole Foods and Champion CCTV. Any event costs are donated by them.  Your fee covers the cost of the medal, insurance and a donation to charity.

Can I get a refund or transfer my place to another runner after I’ve paid and entered?

Refunds are available when entering through EntryCentral. A waiting list is in operation. No refunds or deferrals will be issued after the closing date of the 8th November 2019.

There are strictly no refunds or deferrals on the Santa Dash.

Taking Part

How tough is the run?

As there are no specific time restrictions, you’re free to take it easy and go at your own pace.  This is a social run, so enjoy with friends at a comfy pace or feel free to push yourself on this challenging terrain. The 10 mile route goes through the trickier terrain of Chaddesley Woods so if you’d like an easier run, the 5 mile route should be nice and gentle. That said, it’s mostly trails with stiles, kissing gates, fields, mud, long grass no matter where you go. Trail shoes are recommended and expect to get a bit dirty.  Bring some clean clothes to change into for the post run party!

Do I need trail shoes?

Trail shoes are highly recommended but it depends on the weather at the time. Check recent weather and forecasts to decide. There are some steep banks and normally muddy sections.

Are there any age limits?

For the 10 mile route runners should be over 18 and be of sufficient physical fitness for the challenging course. If under 18’s are interested in this event they can enter the 5 mile route but must be accompanied by an adult within sight at all times. The Santa Dash is available to anyone 4 and over, under 12’s must be accompanied by an adult.

Will you send me a run number?

You wont get your number in the post, it will available for collection from the Park Gate the day before the event, or on the morning of the run.  If you are going to be collecting your number on the day please arrive in plenty of time before your distance is due to start.

What time does the run start?

The Santa Dash will start at 9.30 am, and the registration for this will be at 8:30 am.  The 10 mile run will start at 10:30 and the 5 mile run will start at 11:00.  If you haven’t been able to collect your number from the pub then please arrive NO EARLIER than 8:30 am on the event day.  Registration will be open at 9:30 am, if it’s busy Santa Dash and 10 mile runners will be given priorty due to the earlier start time.

Can I run with my dog?

Yes, but only one dog per runner please, and dogs need to be kept under control, on leads and away from the livestock on the course.  There are plenty of stiles to test your dogs agility!  Some of them have “dog doors”, many don’t, so if your dog isn’t particularly agile, or you’re unable to lift them over, the route may not be appropriate.

Can I volunteer?

If you’re unable to run then you can still take part!  This event couldn’t take place without the support of volunteers, if you would like to help out please contact us via email or via our facebook page.  There are several roles, marshals out on the course, at water stations, at base or run marshals running the route assisting runners.  Anyone volunteering will recieve and Bumble Bimble snood or t-shirt as a thank you.
